A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.
Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.
The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
