'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from distance, and the defender promptly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result sealed an incredible recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after they changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are very good but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His only game for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I believed I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
